Himalayan Trails Trekking in the Garhwal Himalaya

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

Answered plainly. If yours is not here, ask us — a trek coordinator replies, not a bot. Ask a question.

General

Not for the easy–moderate treks. Ali Bedani Bugyal and Brahmatal are both suitable as a first Himalayan trek. Roopkund, Satopanth and the Pangarchula summit routes expect prior high-altitude experience and a solid fitness base.

No. Transport to and from the base camp is charged separately and is listed on each trek page where the amount has been confirmed.

Each departure has a fixed capacity that is shown on the trek page, and the seat count on this site is the real one. When the last seat goes the batch closes itself — we do not add people to a group that is already full.

For an easy–moderate trek, being able to walk five kilometres in about forty-five minutes, comfortably, is a fair benchmark. For the summit routes and Roopkund you want to be doing that plus stairs or hill repeats for a few weeks beforehand. Tell us honestly where you are and we will tell you which trek fits.

Every trek starts from a base village — Lohajung, Joshimath or Mana — reached by road from Rishikesh or Haridwar. Transport is arranged separately and charged per person; the pickup point and time are in the pre-trek pack.

Simple, hot vegetarian food, cooked fresh at camp: breakfast, packed lunch or a trail stop, evening tea with a snack, and dinner. Tell us at booking about any allergy or dietary requirement and we will plan around it.

Assume no network and no charging once you leave the base village. Networks reach some ridges intermittently and nothing is guaranteed. Carry a power bank, and leave the base village number with family so they can reach the team if needed.

Booking and payment

Pick a departure date on the trek page and send the booking form. We confirm your seat over a call, share the payment details and send a full pre-trek pack once payment is received.

Sold-out departures are closed automatically the moment the last seat goes, so you will never be able to book one by mistake. Send us an enquiry and we will tell you the next open date for that trek.

Tell us as early as you can. The earlier a seat is released the more likely someone else can take it, which is better for you and for the group. The exact terms are confirmed in writing at the time of booking.

Safety and fitness

Every trek runs with a trained leader carrying a first-aid kit, oxygen and a pulse oximeter. Health is checked daily at altitude, and the leader has the final call on turning a group around.

Equipment rental

Yes. Shoes, trek poles, torches, jackets and tents are all available on a per-day rental basis, and backpack offloading can be arranged for most treks. Reserve rentals with your booking so sizes are ready at base camp.
